3D printing is the process of creating a three dimensional object from a digital file, using a machine to extrude a plastic material layer upon layer. This course will teach you how to make a 3D printed object by scribbling with permanent marker on white paper, then converting that drawing into a simple 3D model.
Date and Time: Sunday February 23, 1:30pm to 4:30pm
Cost: $25 (includes the cost of materials)
The Things we will do
- Quick introduction to 3D printing, and the workshop’s project
- Demonstration of the process: draw graphic on paper, scan the image, give it some height, print it off!
- While the models are being printed, you will have the opportunity to do some musical hacking with SimCoLab’s resident Musical Masher, Daniel Lerch
The participants do not need to bring a laptop, but they are welcome to do so. Each student will need to complete a line drawing, which will be scanned and turned into a 3D model.
