3D printing is the process of creating a three dimensional object from a digital file, using a machine to extrude a plastic material layer upon layer. This course will teach you how to make a 3D printed object by scribbling with permanent marker on white paper, then converting that drawing into a simple 3D model.

Date and Time: Sunday February 23, 1:30pm to 4:30pm

Cost: $25 (includes the cost of materials)

The Things we will do

  • Quick introduction to 3D printing, and the workshop’s project
  • Demonstration of the process: draw graphic on paper, scan the image, give it some height, print it off!
  • While the models are being printed, you will have the opportunity to do some musical hacking with SimCoLab’s resident Musical Masher, Daniel Lerch
As an example of what we will be doing, here we have a black and white drawing, which we have turned into a 3D object.
